Experience the traditional and introspective brilliance of Hindustani classical music through Khayal, sarangi, tabla, and sitar, brought together by accomplished artists.

Samarth Nagarkar, Khyal singer, educator and author:
Samarth Nagarkar is a virtuoso singer, known for his mastery of Khyal, the preeminent form of Hindustani classical vocal music. His performances are noted for their meditative artistry, technical finesse and emotive depth. Samarth has performed at major venues worldwide, including Lincoln Center NY, UCLA Schoenberg Hall LA, LearnQuest Music Conference Boston, Festival of Tabla LA, and Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center Mumbai. Author of the acclaimed book Raga Sangeet, he has several solo and collaborative albums. As a dedicated educator, he gives lectures and masterclasses at institutions such as UCLA, UPenn, the University of Minnesota, and Jazz at Lincoln Center, and will join the University of Pennsylvania faculty in January 2027. He is among the first to scale Indian classical music on digital platforms like Patreon, pioneering new avenues for audience engagement and music education. He is a voting member of The Recording Academy (Grammys) and has received prestigious awards, including NAKA's Excellence in the Arts Award. Trained under distinguished gurus Ulhas Kashalkar and Dinkar Kaikini, Samarth’s music represents three traditional gharana styles of Gwalior, Agra, and Jaipur. He is a former scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata.

Suhail Yusuf Khan is a sarangi player and vocalist from a distinguished musical lineage. Born in 1989, he is the grandson and disciple of Ustad Sabri Khan and also trained under his uncle, Kamal Sabri. Immersed in sarangi from childhood, he developed a refined command of raga, ornamentation, and the expressive nuances of the instrument.
While deeply rooted in Hindustani classical music, Suhail has also brought the sarangi into contemporary and cross-genre settings. He has performed with the fusion band Advaita, toured internationally, appeared at festivals including Glastonbury, and collaborated with artists across classical, folk, and experimental traditions. His work reflects both rigorous classical training and an openness to new musical conversations.
Suhail recently completed his PhD in Ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University, further extending his role as both performer and scholar
Amod Dandawate is a dedicated tabla artist specializing in the Farrukhabad style. His musical journey began with early exposure to tabla through his father, Late Dr. Vasantrao Dandawate, and after completing his engineering degree, he pursued the art form through other acclaimed teachers. He has been under the tutelage of Pt. Samir Chatterjee for over a decade, receiving intensive training in the guru-shishya tradition. Amod is a sought-after accompanist, having supported numerous major artists from India and the US. He is also actively involved in teaching and promoting Indian classical music in the tri-state area, and now Bay area. Apart from his musical achievements, Amod also holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering."

Opening:

Swati Jhaveri is a seasoned operations professional in the Bay Area. She pursues music with a deep passion. She is currently under the guidance of Pandit Hemang Mehta (disciple of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj and Pandit Chandrasekhar Swamy) of the Mewati Gharana as part of the guru shishya parampara.
Swati ji started learning music at the age of 4 and has had the opportunity to learn with many learned gurus including Pandit Pratap Narayan, Pandita Kankana Banerjee, Pandit Askaran Sharma and Pandit Sougata Banerjee.
She has produced a series of classical singles with a contemporary touch on popular platforms,  in an attempt to make classical music palatable to wider masses and our younger generation.
Swati ji is a faculty at the Raga School of Music and is accepting new students at the Fremont Studio.

Kamal Ahmad is a sitar player and teacher of raga music. He started his musical journey learning tabla before being initiated in the art of sitar playing by his elder sister. It would not be long before he began to seriously pursue his musical studies under sarod maestro Arnab Chakrabarty.
Soon after, Chakrabarty introduced Kamal to his would-be gurus, sitar virtuoso Pandit Vinayak Chittar and scholar-vocalist Pandit Arijit Mahalanabis. In spite of having taken to music at a fairly advanced age, Kamal compensated for a delayed start with an acutely critical approach to learning, which allowed him to identify and pursue an efficient path to honing his abilities. As such, Kamal maintains his critical endeavors in his practice, performance, and teaching of music, in an attempt to constantly improve at each.

Edrees Osman has been learning tabla for the past 12 years. He began his musical journey alongside his cousin Kamal who taught him the basics of tabla and Indian Classical Music. He then went on to learn the fundamentals of Afghan music from Ustad Toryalai Hashimi and his son Eman Hashimi for a short period of time. After a bit of a hiatus from his musical education due to work and school, Edrees decided to continue his tutelage and is currently under the close guidance of Sri Sandip Ghosh. Ghosh is a world-renowned tabla maestro who is a senior disciple of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and has performed across the globe with artists such as Kaushiki Chakraborty among many others. Edrees intends to use his talents to spread the traditional music of Afghanistan to a wider audience in hopes of preserving and promoting the art form.
